Cookies
Information in accordance with Article 13 of E.U. Regulation 679/2016 (GDPR)
What are cookies?
Cookies are short text files containing small amounts of information which are downloaded onto your computer or mobile device when you visit a website. The cookies are then transmitted to the website every time you again visit that same website in the future – or when you visit other websites which recognize the cookies. Cookies are useful because they enable websites to recognize the devices of individual visitors (including, e.g., the user’s login, the user’s preferred language, font size, and other display parameters). Thus, cookies allow a website to adapt itself to the given user’s personal preferences so that he does not have to reset them every time he revisits the site. Cookies are thus used to carry out computer authentications, to monitor visits, and to observe the behavior of the users while they visit the website. The cookies can also contain a unique identification code which can be used for statistical or advertising purposes by tracking the user’s navigation through the website. While you are navigating through the website, it may be that there are cookies from other websites or web servers on your computer or mobile device (see “Third-Party Cookies”). Some functionalities may not properly function or function at all without cookies; for this reason, in some cases, cookies are technically necessary for the website to function without problem.
There are different types of cookies. Depending upon their properties and functions, they may be stored on your computer or mobile device for various lengths of time: These include “session” cookies (which are automatically deleted as soon as you close your browser) and “permanent” cookies” (which remain on the user’s device for a pre-determined period of time).
According to currently valid statutory regulations in Italy, the express consent of the user is not necessarily always required for the use of cookies. In particular so-called “technical” cookies (used, e.g., to transmit a notification via an electronic communication network, or to provide the user with a service which he has explicitly requested) do not require consent. In other words: These are cookies which are indispensable for the proper functioning of the website or for activities which the user, himself, has requested.
The Agency for the Protection of Personal Data categorizes the following types of cookies as technical cookies not requiring the user’s explicit consent (see Prov. Gen. “Linee guida cookie e altri strumenti di tracciamento – June 10, 2021”):
“Analytical” cookies, which are directly employed by the Proprietor of the website to collect information on the number and behavior of the users of the given website;
Cookies for the purpose of navigating or visiting the site (e.g., for authentication purposes, to make a purchase, etc.);
“Functional” cookies, which enable the user to navigate through the website and which incorporate a number of different selected functions (e.g., language preference, purchasing choices, etc.) for the purpose of making the website easier, more convenient, and more efficient to use.
In the case of cookies intended to assist in creating user profiles for advertising purposes, the user’s prior consent is required, and they reflect the user’s preferences as revealed by how he navigates through the website.
What types of cookies do we use?
This website utilizes no cookies for the purpose of working up user profiles.
In particular, this website employs the following types of cookies:
Technical cookies – i.e., cookies used for navigation or visits, and which are indispensable for the proper functioning of the website or for the use of the contents and services by the user.
Analytical cookies help us to understand how visitors use our website. These cookies collect no information pertaining to the user’s identity, nor do they collect personal information: These cookies are comparable to technical cookies insofar as the fourth component of the IP address is masked. The corresponding information is processed in an aggregated and anonymized form. Cookies of this type are placed by Web Analytics Italia|Agenzia per l’Italia digitale (agid.gov.it).
Third-party cookies are cookies stemming from other websites or web servers and which serve their purposes.
When visiting a website, cookies are placed both by the visited website (“The Proprietor”) and by other organizations (“Third Parties”). In this context, note should be made in particular of the “social plug-ins” employed by Facebook, Twitter, and Google+. These cookies are activated in areas of the visited website which are generated by third parties and integrated in the website. The most-common use for social plug-ins is to exchange contents with social networks.
These plug-ins pertain to the transmission of cookies from and to third-party websites. The resultant data are managed in the corresponding regulations which should be observed. In order to guarantee the greatest degree of transparency and convenience, please refer to the following list of internet addresses with information about cookies and their various uses.
